Kathmandu, July 21: The Central Child Welfare Board (CCWB) has said its serious attention was drawn towards an arson carried out on a school bus by an unidentified group on Friday morning.

In a press statement, Board Executive Director Tarak Dhital said children should not be made a target for fulfilling petty interests of any group and their right to get education in a peaceful atmosphere should not be violated under any pretext.

Arson on a bus carrying school children could not be tolerated at any cost, he said, drawing the attention of bodies concerned to investigate the incident and bring those found guilty into book.

Similarly, the Board decried the use of children in carrying placards in support of a political leader on July 15 following new political developments in the country. "It is matter of concern that children are being used by political parties and their sister organisation in an attempt to get their demand addressed".

The Board has called on one and all not use children in such activities in the days ahead and respect child rights.

The bus belonging to the Jhamsikhel-based Ideal Boarding School, Lalitpur was torched by unidentified people this morning.
